Laminated Herringbone pattern coffee table -£210

Inspired by the success of the previous laminated pattern table I decided to experiment with increasing the complexity and started work on a herringbone pattern. I made some additional changes to the previous design. firstly, I used the endbrain of the timber to give a darker richer color, secondly, I coated the top in resin before finishing to improve the were resistance and give some luster and dimensional depth to the surface.
Laminated chevron pattern coffee table – £235 Sold

A friend gifted me some laminated veneer timber, Which normally used in building construction due to its high strength and stability. But I immediately saw the potential beauty in the many layers. I experimented with a few different patterns and fell in love with the chevron pattern. The way the layers appear to flow over the edge is what (for me) sets this table apart in bringing some style and elegance to the living room. I did not want a base that would distract from the stunning table top so opted for simple hairpin legs.
Reclaimed timber cottage dining table

A client had recently purchased a cottage in dire need of restoration. He and his wife embarked on the challenging task of modernizing the cottage while preserving its rustic charm. During the process, some of the original framing and roofing had to be replaced. Rather than discarding the old timber, they had the excellent idea of repurposing it into a dining table and contacted me to breathe new life into the old cottage’s timber. I opted for a simple, traditional design to match the origin of the timber.
After filling and repairing the cracks that had formed over the years, we constructed the base using mortises and tenons and began work on the table top. One of the challenges presented by this reclaimed wood was the different tones of the various boards. Instead of trying to hide this, we embraced it and arranged the timber into a patterned tabletop to introduce a hint of modernity to the rustic design, much like the refurbished house itself.
It’s truly amazing to continue the story of this reclaimed timber, which once formed someone’s home and will now serve as the table where a family will gather for generations to come.
Douglas Fir living room cabinet

A client needed a cabinet to complete their living room, but the available options just didn’t match their style or fit snugly into the nook she had in mind. Determined to find the perfect solution, they got in touch and together we designed this piece. The Douglas fir finished with Danish oil matches the décor of her living room. The central Wine rack was a must and the two cupboards, one to serve as a drinks cabinet and the to store their records flank either side to give a pleasing symmetry.
Shaker style coat hangar and shoe stand

A client had been just leaving her shoes in a pile by the door for 6 months since moving in with her partner. He partner decided to surprise her some entranceway furniture but the standard store-bought options just weren’t cutting it. Seeking a unique solution, we designed the perfect solution.
The shoe stand was crafted from reclaimed timber, and was designed to fit seamlessly around the radiator, making the most of the available space in the entryway. The natural finish of the top contrast nicely with the painted white base to give a clean timeless look. the client was thrilled with their shoe stand and coat rack which have brought some life to a previously empty space.
Simple classic style bed

A client had had enough with her old creaky bed. They were looking for a bed that had a simple, clean classic design similar to shaker style furniture. But most importantly they needed a bed that would be both Sturdy and could be taken apart for when she moves house.
The bed I designed can be broken down into 4 parts that are held together by mortice and tenon joints pulled tight by square bedbolts. This is a traditional construction that has stood the test of time however it is uncommon today in favor of more simple but less secure methods. As a result Bed bolts can not be easily purchased and to complete the build I had to fabricate some by hand. The final bed is both rock solid and beautify ties in with the décor in their bedroom.
My first dining table and chairs

This project has a special place in my heart. The table was the first piece of large furniture I had ever built when did not even have a workshop. I used reclaimed timber as that’s all I could afford and I worked under a tarp to keep the rain off. This piece is far from perfect and is full of mistakes that I have since learnt to avoid however it still has pride of place in my kitchen. The imperfections have become par of its charm and there is no other table like it. This table will stay with me for the rest of my life and will be the table my children and grandchildren will eat at.
